Wear-resistant coatings by thermal spraying

The process of applying a wear-resistant layer by thermal spraying involves heating a material to its melting point or change point, after which it is sprayed onto a surface. This technique is often used to apply wear-resistant coatings to machine parts, tools, and other substrates exposed to abrasive conditions.

The most common type of thermal spraying for wear-resistant applications is flame spraying or HVOF (High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel) spraying.
